Organized Chaos??? No such thing!

OMG!!! How is a person 'sposed to work during a move??? Thank heaven for that bed tray! I can keep beading/sewing projects on it & store it on the craft table, or move it to my light table & let the legs down to work on beading. Or, when I need to sketch, I can pick it up, move it to the craft table & work on my sketching! You don't even want to see the rest of this room! How am I gonna choose what I will take with me in my travels? I'm sure the rest of you artists understand wanting to take it all with you! So far I have a sketching/watercolor pouch, my sketchbooks, a colored pencil pouch, a sewing kit...now I just need to decide on what to put in that beading pouch! Any input would be more than appreciated! Whew!

organized "chaos" is always a good thing.
For the traveling beaded projects, I say pick 3-6 different projects that you would like to be able to work on,
Then have each project set up with what you neeed, thread, beads, pattern, etc.
Then place them on the work service that works for you, say like a "velor" blankie that you can cut up into squares.
This is what I do,
Then you wrap each project up, when you want to work on it you choose the "velor" square that you know has that particular project in it that you want to work on.
Hope this makes sense, if not email me. Love You

Hi, Sis! :) I really can't wait to have a clean place to work! And storage! I feel like the studio's been "fluffed"!
That's a good idea for travelling with projects, but I only have a zippered "pouch" that is 10X4 to fit in my one piece of luggage I'm allowed...plus my purse which will have a sketchbook & just a pen. So I'm thinking maybe I'll put in a mat, some beads & some precut & painted Timtex. Also maybe one off-loom project. So hard to decide! But like someone told me, I could always go buy beads in NM!!! I'm just not used to being able to go to a real bead store! LOL!
Love you!

P.S. What's with the new sewing machine? Did you need one for back up?

I think you need your threads, needles, bead mat/tray and loom. I am sure you will find beads to buy along the way and it doesn't matter if they don't fit - they were purchased after you packed. My other suggestion is take a selection of beads in your favourite colour pallete so you will always have something to stitch.
When I travel I have a little bag with silk threads, material, small hoop and needles to make a tiny pincushion, scissor keeper, etc. it can be made up into all sorts but its small enough to fit into my handbag or travel bag if needed.

PS I am very envious of your travelling and sketching ability.

Hi, Diane!
All great ideas! I don't use a loom...my work is off-loom.
I like the idea of having a bag with all the supplies for sewing & beading & embroidery! I already have a sewing kit a pal made me that I could add to the bag like you talked about! Thanks so much for your ideas!
Warmest aloha,
CC
